Leslie Payne, MSW, LCSWA, UCCEDD-CT, ASDCS
Hey Y’all!
I strive to treat everyone from a place of recognizing your strengths. I specialize in working with Neurodivergent children, young adults and families focusing on anxiety and depression. I am also a dedicated and loving Mother to three energetic children. We’ve got legos on the floor and are running to sports practices while still trying to have game nights. I love dancing in the kitchen, taking walks with my partner and puppies, curling up with a good book, and getting pretty flowers to grow.
Training/Experience
I have 20 years of autism and I/DD experience including research, diagnostics, school based support, family support and mental health service provision. I have worked with the leading organizations in North Carolina including the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities, TEACCH, and Duke Center for Autism and Brain Development. At the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities I developed skill and knowledge in modified-DBT, individual and group therapy, sexual health and relationships education, community-based advocacy & empowered self-advocacy, and interdisciplinary family assessment & support. I was a CIDD LEND fellow (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disorders and Related Disabilities) collaborating with graduates of multiple disciplines, autistics and other disabled community members and a wide array of clinical leaders in fostering a deeper, expansive, and reflective understanding of neurodivergence and disabilities. Additionally, I have a masters level certificate in Neurodevelopmental disorders from University of Cincinnati Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCCEDD) and have completed Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist training.
